YUNSOO LEE

Yunsoo Lee is a South Korean double bassist based in Germany and has been a permanent member of the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau since 2024.

His orchestral engagements include positions with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Essener Philharmoniker, and the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Mainz, where he served as Associate Principal Double Bass.

He also regularly performs as a substitute with the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the NDR Radiophilharmonie, as well as with the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Saarländisches Staatstheater.

He holds a master’s degree from the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, where he studied under Professor Christoph Schmidt, and completed a program in historical performance practice with Professor Dane Roberts.

Yunsoo Lee ist ein südkoreanischer Kontrabassist und lebt in Deutschland. Seit 2024 ist er festes Mitglied der Anhaltischen Philharmonie Dessau.

Zu seinen bisherigen Orchesterengagements zählen Tätigkeiten bei der Deutschen Oper Berlin, den Essener Philharmonikern und dem Philharmonischen Staatsorchester Mainz, wo er als stellvertretender Solo-Kontrabassist tätig war.

Darüber hinaus spielt er regelmäßig als Aushilfe bei der Deutschen Oper Berlin und der NDR Radiophilharmonie sowie am Badischen Staatstheater Karlsruhe und am Saarländischen Staatstheater.

Er absolvierte einen Masterstudiengang an der Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main bei Professor Christoph Schmidt. Einen weiteren Masterstudiengang mit Schwerpunkt historische Interpretationspraxis (HIP) bei Professor Dane Roberts schloss er dort erfolgreich ab.
